How to Harness the Power that is Female: What Happens When Women Work Together

“When women put their heads together, powerful things can happen.”

Watch one episode of the Real Housewives of whichever city, and you will quickly assume from the jealousy, gossiping and fighting that women just can’t work together.

But despite these embarrassing stereotypes, women are now working together (both professionally and personally) more powerfully and productively than ever — supporting one another, championing one another’s successes, sharing resources and ideas, building each other up instead of tearing each other down.

This year in particular I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing females - both business related and personal - who have shown me that when women work together towards a common goal, greatness can be achieved.

Here are just a few ways that women can work together to empower one another:

Create a community

Align yourself with people whom you admire or look up to.

Just this past year, I organized a group of female business owners who meet at my studio once a month to share our goals, give and get advice, to share resources and connections, to voice frustrations and celebrate successes. This community has led to some signifiant changes not only in my business, but in my life as a whole.

Being an entrepreneur can feel pretty darn lonely sometimes, but this group of women has made me feel supported. Now I always feel like someone has my back!

Cheer each other on:

Women face enough challenges as it is, so why do we often make it even more difficult for each other?

The judgement among women needs to stop. Instead of comparing ourselves to one another and passing judgement, we need to cheer each other on! If you see that someone is killing it in some way, let them know - send them a message or even better - tell them in person.

Celebrating someone else’s success, in no way diminishes your own success. If anything your positivity will attract positive changes in your own life.

Pay it forward:

Share what you know—don’t keep it a secret!

Be a mentor to another woman or women. Do you have to have life all figured out in order to mentor someone else? Heck no! No one has life figured out. We are all mostly wavering the line between I’ve got this and I have no idea what the heck I’m doing. But what we do have is experience. Share what you have learned.

And be willing to go out of your way to help others — “paying it forward” will benefit everyone.

And finally - because I love me a good motivational message - here are some of my favorite quotes about females rising up to support one another…

Behind every successful woman is a tribe of other successful women who have her back.

Alone we can do a lot of good, but together, we can do something great!

Empowered Women Empower Women.

we rise by lifting others.

No matter where you are in life, inspire and empower the women around you. Success is sweeter when shared.
